Clinton defines reproductive health

Madam Secretary Clinton could not be any more blunt, and it appears she
is lecturing her Canadian hosts.

On Tuesday, at a press conference in Quebec after a meeting of G8 foreign ministers, Clinton was asked in the light of the “debate in Canada,” whether she thought contraception and abortion should be included in the G8 maternal healthcare focus.

“I’m not going to speak for what Canada decides, but I will say that I’ve worked in this area for many years,” she replied. “And if we’re talking about maternal health, you cannot have maternal health without reproductive health. And reproductive health includes contraception and family planning and access to legal, safe abortion.”...

Whoah. I imagine the jaws of her Canadian hosts dropping on that one, but there she said it clear as daylight. I also imagine she added "...you m*r*ns..." under her breath, but thanks, Madam Clinton. We can stop wondering whether ObamaCare would include funding for abortion, or whether 'maternal health' is an euphemism.

You know, I'm somewhat surprised that Hillary Clinton's categorical admission of abortion being considered among the reproductive health care services is being noticed only now. She admitted the same in April 2009 but it seems the media didn't get wind of it or just chose to ignore it.

The report is here: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2236627/posts

(And in the same occasion she is all praises for eugenicist Margaret Sanger)

However, I sure am glad that people are taking notice of this. What now?

sunnyday,

If a conservative of her stature had spoken prolife views then and now, imagine the howls it would have generated from the media. They always nitpick what to sensationalize. For one, the media reports on the Vatican handling of the 'sex abuse scandals'.

I wonder how Clinton's statement ties up with Obama's promise that "there will be no public funding of abortion in this legislation". I suppose some sharp reporter gets to pose Obama this question..

Oo nga 'no?! Gosh, talk about making campaign promises -- or promises during the "honeymoon period" of an administration. More bluntly, talk about lying through one's teeth.

Do you have an article containing that statement he made?

"I laid out a very simple principle, which is this is a health care bill, not an abortion bill," Obama said. "And we're not looking to change what is the principle that has been in place for a very long time, which is federal dollars are not used to subsidize abortions."

Well, his Secretary of State tells the world what the principle is all about.
